O-ring Overview
O-ring is a most fundamental and broadly-used seal today. It is assembled into grooves to provide sealing based on the elastic rebound generated by the pressure with sliding side. O-ring is compressed upon assembly to seal automatically and applicable to any part for fixing, back-and-forth motion and rotation. If used for fixing, in particular, o-ring offers longer lifespan. Given its rubber-material frictional property, o-ring is, in fact, inappropriate for movement. If used for movements, therefore, o-ring offers shorter lifespan.
